Welcome to the Hellmouth.

Suburban Gothic is a dispatch on horror, feminism, the body, queerness, culture, writing, and whatever I’m currently ruminating on straight from the best house on Elm Street.

Why Suburban Gothic? Because I’m a Suburban Bitch. Though I’ve done frightful sabbaticals in urban and rural areas, I’ve lived most of my life in the Edgelands. I’m the product of a liminal space, what happens when you hover too long in the borderless nowhere. Picture me writing this from the Sunnydale High library or simmering in the dreadful malaise of Donnie Darko’s Middlesex enclave. There’s a Gothic heroine in all of us and mine is looking behind hedges for Michael Myers and battling misogyny in Stepford.
